2-Semester PG Diploma Course on Multimedia & Web Technology
1. The PG Diploma Course will be of 2-Semesters duration and semester examination system will be followed.

2. A student will have to pass each theoretical subjects, sessionals and dissertation including vive-voce within 3 consecutive academic sessions from his/her admission to the course. A student will be promoted to the next semester irrespective of his/her performance in theoretical subjects provided he/she passes the sessionals in that semester. However, a student is required to pass all theoretical subjects before submission of dissertation. A student will be ineligible to appear in the semester examination, if he /she fails to pass the sessionals in that semester. In such cases he/she will have to take readmission in that particular semester paying full fees for the semester.
(a) Pass marks will be 50% in each theoretical subject and sessionals
(b) Lab courses will be treated as sessional papers. Each student must satisfactorily complete the sessional work of the computer and must obtain at least 50% marks in each of the sessional subjects in respective semester.

3. There will be repeat examinations. He/she shall have the chance to the subject within three consecutive repeat examinations of that subject in addition to the one regular semester examination.

4. A student will appear in all the theoretical papers taken by him at a semester at regular semester examination to be held at the end of the semester.

5. A student will submit his/her thesis within the scheduled date to be announced by the Faculty Council of Engineering and Technology along with the academic calendar before the start of the respective session and the examination of the thesis will be conducted soon thereafter. However before submission he/she should have passed in all theoretical and sessional papers.

6. Examination of the thesis and viva-voce will be conducted by three examiners at least one would be an external examiner to be appointed on the advice of the Head of the Department. The supervisor(s) would be examiner(s). The same examiners will conduct the vive-voce examination of the candidate concerned within five months from the last date of submission as in clause 5. The degree will be awarded to the candidate on successful completion of the vive-voce examination.

7. A student who has failed to submit his/her thesis by the scheduled date will have another chance to do as bi-annual candidate for thesis submission as per the existing rules followed for PG Engineering & Technology courses.

8. A student who has appeared and passed in all the semester papers in the regular semester examination and has submitted his/her thesis within the scheduled date (he/she must neither have appeared at any examination for clearing back paper(s) in any semester nor submitted his/her thesis as a bi-annual candidate), shall be placed in the appropriate class and shall hold such position in their respective class list in order of merit as the percentage of total marks secured by them.

9. A student who has appeared at any examination(s) for clearing back paper(s) in any semester subject (s) or has submitted his/her thesis as a bi-annual candidate and passed in all papers will be placed in the appropriate class in order of merit, but shall be placed below the list of candidates as determined under clause (vii) irrespective of the fact they might have secured higher aggregate marks than the candidates whose merit list has been determined according to the same provision.

10. Candidates securing 65% or more of the aggregate marks in the total number of papers including the thesis will be declared to have passed in First Class and other successful candidates securing 50% or less than 65% of the aggregate marks will be placed in the Second Class.

11. If a student fails in theoretical subject(s), he/she would get the benefit of grafting of 5 marks as per existing examination rule applicable for MCA students.

12. All students will have to appear in written examinations for theoretical subjects in each semester conducted by Controller of Examination, Jadavpur University and the venue of the theoretical and sessional examinations will be decided by the Controller of Examination, Jadavpur University.

13. The students' performance in both theory and sessional will be indicated as Grade and the semester grade card would show SGPA as per existing Faculty of Engineering & Technology rule. The Final Grade Card will contain the CGPA and class obtained as per existing rules of Faculty of Engineering & Technology.

14. The grade card will also contain the credit points for each theoretical and sessional subjects.

15. Controller of Examination in consultation with the Director, School of Education Technology will appoint the paper setters as well as examiners of answer scripts. The paper setters and examiners may be internal or external members.

16. The normal semester examinations will always be (except in the first year, first semester) preceded by the repeat examinations of the previous semester. This will allow the students, if needed, to appear in the repeat as well as normal examination.

17. The following Examination fees be fixed :
(i) Semester Examination fee -- Rs. 500/=
(ii) Grade Card -- Rs. 50/=
(iii) Repeat Exam fee -- Rs. 100/= per paper
(iv) Readmission fee -- Rs. 500/=
(v) Dissertation Submission fee -- Rs. 2,500/=
